Rescue efforts are underway after a blast in Meghalaya killed ten laborers at a coal mine.

At least ten miners were killed in a coal mine accident in Meghalaya on Thursday following a significant explosion in Tashkhai.

Initial accounts state that the explosion took place within a coal mine, resulting in significant casualties among the workers that were on the scene. The majority of the victims, according to the authorities, were Assamese laborers.

Teams have been sent to the scene as part of the rescue effort that Meghalaya Police began after the event.While workers are visible across the site, black smoke is visible emerging from the mine. Outside, the workers are observed congregating at the location. There are also a few women and kids present. According to preliminary reports, one of the laborers who died lived in Katigorah’s Bihara hamlet. As rescue and investigation activities continue, more information is anticipated.
