HAL Dismisses Tejas Crash Claims, Calls It Minor Ground Incident Amid IAF Fleet Checks

State-run aerospace major Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has rejected reports suggesting that a Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas fighter jet crashed, clarifying that the episode was a minor technical incident on the ground and not an airborne accident.

The clarification comes after reports circulated claiming that a Tejas aircraft had suffered a crash, sparking concern given the strategic importance of the indigenous fighter programme. In response, HAL stated that the aircraft was involved in a limited ground-related technical issue and emphasised that the situation had been mischaracterised in sections of the media.

According to details that emerged earlier, the aircraft was returning from a routine sortie when it experienced a problem during landing, leading to a runway overshoot at an Indian Air Force (IAF) base. The pilot ejected safely, and no loss of life was reported.
