Kharagpur : Madhusudan Roy, a loyal full-time worker of the CPM, has spent 62 years of his life serving the party. From delivering the newspaper on his bicycle early in the morning to working all day at the party office, his life has been fully dedicated to the party and its ideals.
Madhusudan Roy has been active in Left student politics since 1985 and is now the Secretary of the Kharagpur City West Committee. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he earned the respect of many local people by delivering medicines to homes and helping those in need.
In this election, the CPM leadership has placed its trust in Madhusudan Roy, passing over several other well-known names. He is now facing a tough triangular contest in kharagpur against BJP candidate Dilip Ghosh and TMC candidate Pradip Sarkar.
Speaking about the election, Madhusudan Roy said, “This is a battle of principles, not of names.” His words show that he wants the people to focus on values and public issues rather than only on popular faces. Even rival candidate Pradip Sarkar praised Roy for his hard work and dedication.
Madhusudan Roy has also raised several important issues of Kharagpur in his campaign. He has promised to work for a solution to the long-standing (“Kala Pani”) water scarcity problem. He also wants to ensure jobs for local youth in the factories, make the city free from pollution, improve the Railway Hospital, develop better drainage systems, and build an auditorium for the city.
With years of political experience and a strong image of service, Madhusudan Roy has entered the election as a candidate of commitment and discipline. Now, the people of Kharagpur will decide whether his long struggle and dedication can turn into electoral victory. ( The cover story ).
