In a serious breach of national security, a man from Bihar has been arrested for allegedly attempting to seek financial assistance from a foreign agency in exchange for endangering the security of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, police officials said.

The accused, identified as Amal Kumar Tiwari, hails from the Simri area of Buxar district. According to investigators, Tiwari had reached out to a foreign intelligence agency through an online communication platform, offering to share sensitive information or create a potential threat to the Prime Minister’s security. In return, he reportedly demanded monetary compensation.

Authorities became aware of the suspicious communication following intelligence inputs, prompting swift action by law enforcement agencies. Tiwari was subsequently taken into custody, and a case was registered against him under relevant sections related to national security and unlawful activities.

During the arrest, police seized several electronic devices, including a mobile phone and a laptop, which are now undergoing forensic examination. Officials believe that these devices may contain crucial evidence regarding the nature of the communication, the identity of the foreign agency involved, and whether there were any accomplices or broader links to organised networks.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the accused may have acted independently, and there is currently no indication of a larger conspiracy. However, authorities are not ruling out any possibilities and are continuing their probe to uncover the full extent of the matter. Security agencies are particularly cautious given the sensitivity of threats involving the Prime Minister’s safety.

Police officials also highlighted the growing concern over the misuse of digital platforms to establish contact with foreign entities for malicious purposes. The case underscores the need for heightened vigilance and monitoring of online activities that could potentially compromise national security.

Further investigation is underway to determine the motive behind Tiwari’s actions, including whether financial desperation or ideological factors played a role. Officials are also examining his background and digital footprint to ensure that no critical details are overlooked. The arrest serves as a reminder of the evolving nature of security threats in the digital age, where individuals can attempt to exploit online channels to carry out activities with serious national implications.
