Kharagpur, West Bengal : BJP candidate from Kharagpur Sadar, Dilip Ghosh, has promised comprehensive development of Kharagpur, saying the town has been deprived of planned growth for several years. He said civic infrastructure, drainage, drinking water and public safety will be top priorities
In an exclusive interview with News Mania, Dilip Ghosh said his party is confident of forming the government in West Bengal and pledged to work towards the overall development of the town. He stressed that both the Central Government and the State Government must work together to ensure the full development of Kharagpur, including railway zones and civilian areas under the municipality.

Ghosh said several long-pending civic problems continue to affect daily life in Kharagpur. He pointed to poor transport infrastructure, an inadequate drainage system, irregular drinking water supply and severe waterlogging during the monsoon as key issues that need urgent attention.
He said that if these basic problems are addressed properly, the town could undergo major transformation and residents would be able to live in greater peace and comfort.
The BJP leader also launched a strong attack on the ruling Trinamool Congress government over the law and order situation in the region. He alleged that people in Kharagpur were living in fear and described the present situation as a “police raj,” claiming that hooliganism had taken root in the area. “We will free Kharagpur from this menace,” Ghosh said, while promising to restore order and improve public safety if given the opportunity. He further said that many small but significant local issues have remained unresolved for years, and solving them would change the face of Kharagpur.
With elections drawing closer, Ghosh’s remarks reflect the BJP’s attempt to focus on development, civic services and law and order as central campaign issues in Kharagpur Sadar.
