A grand annual celebration, based on the theme 'Dharohar' (Heritage), was organized on Thursday at PM Shri Kendriya Vidyalaya, IIT Kharagpur. This event, dedicated to preserving and promoting the vibrant heritage of Indian culture, proved to be a resounding success. Principal Dr. Rikisha Bhowmick inaugurated the ceremony by lighting the ceremonial lamp in the dignified presence of Chief Guest Prof. Rabibrata Mukherjee (Department of Chemical Engineering, IIT Kharagpur), Guest of Honour Sudeep Mandal (Principal, Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 3), Dr. Rajiv Rawat (Senior Hindi Officer), and the parents present as guests.
The Principal and the Headmaster extended a warm welcome and accorded due honors to the guests by presenting them with mementos, traditional stoles, and badges. In her welcome address, the Principal paid her respects to all the guests and, while shedding light on the festival's theme 'Dharohar,' underscored the school's commitment to both cultural and academic excellence.
The students mesmerized the audience with a diverse array of performances—commencing with a 'Durga Vandana' (Hymn to Goddess Durga) and continuing with Western dance, a Yoga demonstration, a musical ensemble ('Sur Sangam'), the Rajasthani Kalbelia dance, and a ramp walk fashion show showcasing the diverse traditional attire and human values inherent in Indian culture. These performances served to vividly bring to life the timeless essence of our heritage.
In his keynote address, Chief Guest Prof. Rabibrata Mukherjee emphasized that every child is unique. He stated that merely securing high marks is not the be-all and end-all; excellence can be achieved in any field of endeavor, and every achievement holds its own distinct significance. Expressing his delight at being present and having received the invitation, he extended his best wishes and blessings to everyone. Principal Dr. Rikisha Bhowmick presented the Annual Report, during which certificates and mementos were awarded to students who demonstrated outstanding performance in board examinations and classroom academics. Students who achieved exceptional distinctions in sports, socio-cultural activities, Yoga, NCC, Olympiads, and various other domains were felicitated by the Chief Guests and the Principal. The school campus was exquisitely adorned with flowers, lights, and cultural motifs. The premises came alive with a festive atmosphere, thanks to the massive turnout of thousands of parents and guests. NCC cadets accorded a grand welcome to the guests with a parade and a ceremonial salute. The program was skillfully anchored by the PGT (Hindi), Muqeem Khan. The entire staff and student body made a significant contribution towards making the event a resounding success.
At the conclusion of the program, a pledge for water conservation was administered. The festivities drew to a close with the singing of the National Anthem. This event proved to be a source of renewed energy for the school's cultural heritage.
