According to official media, two ships that were trying to pass the Strait of Hormuz were apprehended by Iran’s IRGC for “manipulating navigation systems and endangering safety in the Strait of Hormuz” and are being transported to Iran.
“Two violating ships, “MSC-FRANCESCA” (linked to the Zionist regime) and “EPAMINODES,” which endangered maritime security by operating without the necessary permits and tampering with navigation systems, were seized by the IRGC Navy and directed to the coast of Iran,” the IRGC Navy said in a statement. “Disruption of order and safety in the Strait of Hormuz is our red line.”
MSC-FRANCESCA and EPAMINONDES are the names of the vessels. The Marinetraffic website states that EPAMINONDES, a container ship flying the Liberian flag, was in route from Jebel Ali in Dubai to Gujarat. Iran targeted at least three container ships in the Strait of Hormuz earlier today. An Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) warship opened fire on a cargo ship approximately 15 nautical miles northeast of Oman, according to the UK Maritime Trade Operations Centre (UKMTO), which confirmed the initial incident.
In a second incident, the Panamanian-flagged Euphoria, owned by a company in the United Arab Emirates, was allegedly targeted around eight nautical miles west of Iran. According to UKMTO, the ship sustained no damage and the crew was uninjured.
While heading south from the Strait of Hormuz into the Gulf of Oman, the Panamanian-flagged MSC Francesca was also attacked around six nautical miles off the coast of Iran. The ship reported damage to its accommodations and hull, according to maritime intelligence firm Vanguard.
Hours before the ceasefire was about to expire, US President Donald Trump extended it on Wednesday, stating that it would last until Iran submitted a “unified proposal” to put a stop to the dispute permanently. Vice President JD Vance was supposed to travel to Islamabad for a second round of discussions in Pakistan, but the White House halted his journey when Iran rejected attempts to resume talks.Iran did not state that Tehran was prepared to participate in a fresh round of negotiations to end the war, but it did acknowledge the truce extension.
