Sudhanshu Trivedi, Rajya Sabha MP and National Spokesperson of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), addressed a significant press conference in Kolkata today, delivering a strong message of development, governance, and political change in West Bengal.

He was joined by BJP State Media Convenor Professor Bimal Shankar Nanda, Co-Convenor Chandrashekhar Basotia, and State Chief Spokesperson Shri Debjit Sarkar.

Opening the briefing, Shri Debjit Sarkar described West Bengal as standing at a “historic crossroads,” asserting that after decades of governance by Left parties and the All India Trinamool Congress (TMC), the people are now looking for a new direction.

In his address, Dr. Trivedi stated that the ongoing West Bengal Assembly elections are approaching a decisive phase, with public sentiment consolidating in favor of change. He alleged that under the current state government, issues such as corruption, criminal influence, and appeasement politics have hindered development and created an atmosphere of insecurity.

Paying tribute to Bengal’s rich legacy, Dr. Trivedi highlighted that both Jana Gana Mana and Vande Mataram originated from this land, expressing confidence that a renewed spirit of nationalism would once again emerge strongly from the state.

He emphasized that under the leadership of Narendra Modi, the BJP aims to restore West Bengal’s historical position as a hub of industry, economy, and employment. He also contrasted central welfare initiatives such as Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana, Ujjwala Yojana, and housing schemes with the current situation in the state, particularly focusing on women’s safety and empowerment.

Referring to recent incidents and electoral developments, Dr. Trivedi highlighted contrasting narratives of fear and justice, asserting that the electorate seeks stability and trust. He further raised questions over policy approaches, governance priorities, and political messaging of the ruling party.

Outlining the BJP’s vision, Dr. Trivedi stated that the party’s “Bharoser Sankalp Patra” promises to generate one crore employment opportunities within five years, boost industrial growth, provide financial assistance of ₹3000 per month to women, and establish a dedicated women’s security battalion named after historical figures like Matangini Hazra and Rani Rashmoni.

He also stressed the importance of national security, proposing measures such as expedited border fencing and stricter policies to curb illegal infiltration. Highlighting infrastructure development, he mentioned expansion of inland waterways, modernization of Howrah Port, and the proposed six-lane expressway connecting Varanasi to Kolkata via Ranchi.

Concluding his address, Dr. Trivedi appealed to the people of West Bengal to give the BJP an opportunity, stating that a clear transformation in governance and development would be visible.

The press conference underscored BJP’s intensified campaign efforts in the state as the elections approach their final phase.
