FWICE Revokes Non-Cooperation Order Against Ranveer Singh After Industry Intervention

The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has withdrawn its non-cooperation directive against Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh, bringing temporary relief in the ongoing dispute linked to the film Don 3. The decision follows mediation efforts by major film industry bodies and comes after the actor reportedly challenged the directive through a legal notice.
The controversy began when concerns were raised over Singh’s reported exit from Don 3, a project directed by Farhan Akhtar and one of the most anticipated films in the franchise. The filmmakers allegedly claimed that substantial investments had already been made in the movie’s pre-production process and that the actor’s withdrawal resulted in significant financial losses.
In response to complaints from the producers, FWICE had earlier issued a non-cooperation directive against Singh, a move that sparked debate across the Hindi film industry. The action drew criticism from several producers and industry professionals, who argued that contractual disputes should be resolved through legal or arbitration mechanisms rather than industry-wide restrictions.
The matter escalated when Singh reportedly served a legal notice on FWICE, questioning the organisation’s decision and authority to impose such measures. The dispute prompted intervention from several influential industry bodies, including producers’ associations and artistes’ organisations, which sought to facilitate dialogue between the parties involved.
Following discussions with stakeholders, FWICE announced the withdrawal of the directive with immediate effect. The organisation stated that the decision was taken in the interest of maintaining harmony within the film industry and encouraging a constructive resolution to the dispute. It also indicated that discussions on the matter would continue through appropriate channels.
