New Delhi, June 21: The Indian Coast Guard celebrated the 12th International Day of Yoga with nationwide participation through its flagship initiative, “Yoga Sangam 2026,” reaffirming its commitment to the health and well-being of its personnel and their families.

Aligned with this year’s theme, “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” the celebrations highlighted the importance of yoga in promoting physical fitness, mental wellness, emotional balance and resilience across all age groups.

As part of the observance, coordinated yoga sessions were conducted across all Indian Coast Guard ships and establishments nationwide. Thousands of Coast Guard personnel and their family members participated in guided sessions led by trained yoga instructors. The programme included a comprehensive blend of yogic postures (asanas), breathing exercises (pranayama) and meditation techniques designed to enhance overall well-being.

Special emphasis was placed on practical yoga practices that can be easily integrated into daily routines to improve physical health, mental clarity, stress management and operational readiness. The initiative is particularly relevant for Coast Guard personnel who regularly operate in demanding and high-pressure environments.

The central event was held at the Indian Coast Guard Complex in Noida in collaboration with the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga. The programme was attended by Director General of the Indian Coast Guard, Paramesh Sivamani, along with more than 1,000 Coast Guard personnel and their family members.
