In a drone strike on the Russian city of Nizhnekamsk, Ukraine kills thirteen people, including a kid

A Ukrainian drone strike on industrial and civilian targets in the city of Nizhnekamsk resulted in at least 13 deaths, including a toddler, and 39 injuries, according to police on Monday. This is one of the highest civilian casualties in Russia in months.

About 800 kilometres (497 miles) east of Moscow, in the Tatarstan region, Tatneft’s TANECO oil refinery was struck by the Ukrainian military, who also reported that a fire was detected there. In a statement, Russian investigators said they had initiated a criminal probe into what they considered to be a terrorist act, claiming that Ukraine had attacked residential areas and that one of the civilians murdered was a kid.

A period of mourning has been announced by Rustam Minnikhanov, the head of Russia’s Tatarstan territory.In 2024, 2.7 million tonnes of petrol and 8.5 million tonnes of diesel fuel were produced from 17 million tonnes of crude oil processed at the TANECO refinery, which was also attacked by Ukraine in early June.

Fuel shortages have occurred in many places of Russia as a result of Ukraine’s increased attacks on Russian oil refineries in recent months, however authorities claim that the majority of those early issues have since been fixed. Ukraine claims it wishes to make the costs of Russia’s war more accessible to regular Russians. To bolster supplies, Moscow has imported petroleum from other countries. Both sides accused each other of deadly strikes on Sunday.

A Russian attack on a multi-story apartment building in the eastern Ukrainian city of Kharkiv resulted in three fatalities and 37 injuries, while officials in Belgorod, Russia, reported that a Ukrainian drone attack killed five persons and injured 25.
Russia and Ukraine have stated again and time again that they do not target people.
