BJP Marks Independence Day with Flag Hoisting and Welfare Programme in Ward 86

Kolkata:* BJP Ward 86 organised a special Independence Day programme at Lake View Road to mark India’s 80th Independence Day, featuring a flag-hoisting ceremony and messages of patriotism, national unity and service.

State Finance Minister Swapan Dasgupta attended the programme, along with BJP leaders Rajkamal Pathak, Tandrani Das De and other party functionaries. A large number of party workers and local residents participated in the event.

Addressing the gathering, Dasgupta highlighted Bengal’s rich history, heritage and cultural traditions, and called for efforts to revive the state’s lost traditions and pride.

Organiser Amit Roy spoke about India’s freedom struggle and alleged that people in Bengal had lost their rights under previous governments, asserting that the present government would work towards restoring them.

The programme also included the distribution of new clothes among underprivileged and needy people. Freedom fighters were remembered with respect during the celebrations.
