India denies Pakistan’s claims that Indian and Pakistani ships collided.

India vehemently denied Islamabad’s claims that a Pakistani ship and an Indian Navy destroyer collided in the Arabian Sea on Friday. On Wednesday, New Delhi strongly protested the “unacceptable conduct” of the Pakistan Navy warship that caused the incident and summoned the Pakistani Charge d’Affaires (CDA).
According to the Indian side, the incident occurred on Tuesday nite when the Pakistani ship approached the front-line Indian Navy destroyer that was conducting a normal surveillance mission in the north Arabian Sea.
According to the Pakistani foreign ministry, the incident occurred as a result of the Indian vessel’s “very aggressive and reprehensible activity” in Pakistan’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).
“We have seen Pakistan’s response to the protest we had lodged. It is the usual prevarication that we expected. We reject the allegations and insinuations contained therein,” MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said at his regular media briefing.
According to him, the incident occurred as a result of the Pakistani military ship Hunain acting in a “unacceptable and unprofessional manner” at sea while the Indian ship INS Kolkata was on a routine deployment in the western Arabian Sea.
“The dangerous overtaking manoeuvre by PNS Hunain was in gross violation of Article 10 of the Agreement between India and Pakistan on Advance Notice on Military Exercises, Manoeuvres and Troops Movements of April 1991, which specifies that naval units at sea are not to be within three nautical miles of each other. In addition, the Pakistani ship also infringed the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea,” Jaiswal said.
He said that in order to stop similar occurrences from happening again, the Pakistani side has once again been “advised” that all military units must exercise caution and adhere to the terms of the pertinent agreements between the two parties. According to Jaiswal, the INS Kolkata is still at sea and was not seriously damaged in the event.
