Talent, Entrepreneurship, Investment Key to Making Bengal a Technology Creator: IT Minister

Kolkata: Building a strong ecosystem of talent, entrepreneurship and investment is essential to transform Bengal from a consumer into a creator of technology, West Bengal IT & Electronics Minister Dr Kalyan Chakraborti said at the inaugural session of the 25th edition of ICT East. With the theme “Eastern India in the Age of AI: Innovation, Impact and Inclusion,” the event focused on AI-led opportunities and strengthening the region’s technology ecosystem. Chakraborti said the state has prepared the West Bengal AI Mission and is working on its implementation, along with plans to strengthen data centres and expand the AI and quantum ecosystem. A report on building Bengal’s new-age IT, ESDM, semiconductor and AI/ML ecosystem was also released. Industry leaders called for greater collaboration between government, industry and academia to make Bengal a hub for AI innovation.
