Mika Singh Questions Different Perceptions of Pakistani and Dubai Muslims

News Mania Desk/ Piyal Chatterjee/ 3rd October 2026

Singer Mika Singh has spoken about his experiences in Pakistan and questioned why Muslims from Pakistan are sometimes perceived differently in India from Muslims living in Dubai. The singer made the remarks while recalling his visit to Pakistan and his interactions with people there.

Mika said that he did not believe Pakistan or its people should automatically be viewed negatively. Recalling his experiences, he spoke about the hospitality he received and the interactions he had with local residents during his visit.

The singer also highlighted the role of local Muslims in maintaining Sikh religious sites in Pakistan. He recalled seeing people helping with cleaning and upkeep at gurdwaras, describing the experience as meaningful given his connection with Sikh religious places. Mika spoke particularly about his visits to Nankana Sahib and Panja Sahib, two important Sikh pilgrimage sites in Pakistan. His comments focused on the interactions between communities and the contrast between people’s perceptions and his personal experiences.

The singer’s remarks also revisit a controversy from 2019, when his performance at a private event in Karachi attracted criticism in India. Following the incident, the All India Cine Workers Association announced a boycott against him. Mika later apologised, after which the professional restrictions imposed on him were lifted.

Mika’s observations were framed around his personal experiences rather than as a political statement about the broader relationship between the neighbouring countries. The singer’s comments have drawn attention because they question whether perceptions of people should be shaped by their nationality or religious identity. His recollections of Pakistan, particularly the support he said he witnessed at Sikh religious sites, formed the central theme of his remarks.
