Due to a suspected hijack alert, an Air India flight from Frankfurt to Delhi was rerouted to Jaipur this morning, according to sources. According to sources, the airport officials responded at the highest level, which is often used to handle situations like hijackings.

At 9.45 am, Flight AI 2030, a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, made a safe landing in the Rajasthani city 280 kilometers from its original destination. Once on the ground, the authorities cautiously approached the aircraft before moving the ladders so that passengers could get out.

According to sources in Ahmedabad air traffic control, AI 2030 sent them the squawk code 7500, which is typically used when an aircraft is taken over. For illegal interference, it is the international transponder code.

According to officials, everyone is safe. After the aircraft was thoroughly inspected, the passengers and crew were permitted to deboard, they added. The airline stated earlier today that in the event of a cancelation, the passengers were given free rescheduling options or a full refund. Air India confirmed the incident in a statement a few hours later, stating that the flight was diverted “after a perceived security issue.”

According to the airline, the passengers underwent security checks before being permitted to board the plane once more to resume its journey to Delhi. It arrived in Delhi this evening. “Air India teams worked proactively with authorities to minimise passenger inconvenience. We sincerely regret the inconvenience caused to our passengers due to this unforeseen disruption and appreciate their patience and understanding,” Air India said.
