Benjamin Netanyahu, the prime minister, thought that Israel will probably encounter an antagonistic US government in the future, which could jeopardize its military support and strategic partnership with Washington. Speaking at a gathering a few days prior to Israel’s election on October 27, the Israeli prime minister stated that in order to improve his nation’s standing, it needs form new international alliances, such as those with Latin American nations and India.

Netanyahu’s comments were made just hours before US President Donald Trump openly declared his support for the Israeli prime minister’s reelection campaign, just days before the nation’s elections.

“In two years, a president, man or woman, could come to power who is very hostile to Israel. How would you deal with that? How would you operate in relation to the United States? And beyond that, what solutions would be necessary?” Netanyahu questioned..

“First, we must do everything we can during these two years, and during the following two years, in the American arena, through good times and bad,” he said.

“The second thing is to create other alliances. That is what I am working on now with many countries in our region and outside it. India is not a small country, and there are many others,” the Israeli prime minister said, pointing to political developments in Latin America as another opportunity to expand Israel’s network of allies.

“There is a major shift in Latin America, and there could be an enormous change in Brazil in just a few days,” Netanyahu pointed out, adding, “We must expand our pool of alliances and develop capabilities that make us valuable to everyone.” Netanyahu has previously used India and his friendship with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to highlight the diplomatic achievements of his government and to argue against Israel’s increasing isolation in the globe. In a widely reported statement in May, Netanyahu countered concerns about delegitimization and alliances over a protracted conflict by claiming that his nation has a “special relationship” with “great power” India, where there is “mad love” for Israel.

Many Israeli observers believe that Netanyahu’s bad decisions over the years are to blame for the growing anti-Israel sentiment among US Democrats. The analysts told news agency that he frequently had tense ties with Democratic Party-led Presidents Barack Obama and Joe Biden, which he portrayed to his fans as the bravery of a strong leader prepared to oppose American Presidents in order to protect Israel’s interests.
