Karnataka Hikes Nandini Milk Prices by ₹8 Per Litre From November 1

News Mania Desk/ Piyal Chatterjee/ 30th October 2026

The Karnataka government has announced an ₹8-per-litre increase in Nandini milk prices, with the revised rates set to take effect from November 1. The decision is expected to affect household budgets across the state, where Nandini is one of the most widely consumed dairy brands.

Karnataka Minister Krishna Byre Gowda announced the price revision on October 29. Under the proposed arrangement, ₹7 from every additional litre will go towards payments to milk-producing farmers, while the remaining Re 1 will be allocated to dairy cooperatives.

The increase comes amid demands from milk producers and cooperative bodies for better remuneration to offset rising production and operational expenses. Farmers have been facing higher costs for cattle feed, fodder, veterinary medicines and other essential inputs, putting pressure on their earnings.

The revised prices are also expected to provide additional financial support to the dairy cooperative network, which plays a significant role in collecting, processing and distributing milk across Karnataka. The state’s dairy sector relies heavily on a network of local producers and cooperatives to maintain regular supplies to urban and rural consumers.

Nandini milk, marketed by the Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF), has a substantial presence in the state’s dairy market. Its products are widely purchased by households, hotels, restaurants and other businesses. Consequently, the price revision could have implications beyond individual consumers, particularly for businesses that use large quantities of milk daily.

For households, the increase may add to regular expenditure on essential food items. Families that consume several litres of milk each week could see a noticeable rise in their monthly grocery bills. Businesses selling tea, coffee, sweets and other dairy-based products may also review their operating costs following the revised rates.

While higher procurement payments can help producers manage increasing input costs, retail price increases can place additional pressure on consumers already dealing with household expenses. The revised Nandini milk prices will come into force on November 1. Consumers are expected to check the applicable rates for their preferred milk varieties as the new pricing structure takes effect.
