Corresspondent -Ajay Chowdhury/ 6th July 2026

Reacting to the death of a Class 4 student in an explosion that allegedly occurred during a TMC victory procession following last year’s by-poll, West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari said his government would take the strongest possible legal action against those responsible.
The Chief Minister stated that an FIR has been registered against four individuals, with two already detained and being interrogated. He added that the government would pursue the case vigorously and seek the maximum punishment under the law for those found guilty.
CM Adhikari also said he had spoken to the victim’s guardian and assured the family of the government’s support. Highlighting measures to strengthen public safety, he referred to initiatives such as Durga Vahini and the Women’s Helpdesk, while asserting that law enforcement agencies would be empowered to act firmly against criminal elements.
He further claimed that nearly 200 people have been identified during the investigation and said that more action would follow in the coming days.
