2024 MTV VMAs provide fans with a blast as Eminem and Taylor Swift break records

The 2024 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) concluded on Wednesday night with an extraordinary high that saw some records being broken.
The much-awaited music award show took place live at Long Island’s UBS Arena on Wednesday, September 11, at 8 p.m. ET, following a rescheduling from its original date due to the ABC presidential debate between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump.
This year’s VMAs was hosted by female rapper Megan Thee Stallion. The list of presenters included a diverse array of celebrities such as Addison Rae, Alessandra Ambrosio, Big Sean, Busta Rhymes, Cyndi Lauper, DJ Khaled, Fat Joe, Flavor Flav, French Montana, Halle Bailey, Lil Nas X, Miranda Lambert, Naomi Scott, Paris Hilton, Suki Waterhouse, Thalia, and Tinashe.
World-famous rapper Eminem opened the show with a highly anticipated performance of his latest album, ‘The Death of Slim Shady’. This was his first television appearance with the new album and was a highlight performance.
‘Slim Shady’ was a standout nominee this year, receiving eight nods across various categories, including Video of the Year, Best Hip-Hop, and Song of the Summer. Prior to this year’s award show, he was tied with Peter Gabriel for the most VMA wins by a solo male artist with 13 wins. Eminem broke this record with this year’s two wins, “Best Hip-Hop” and “Best Visual Effects” for his new track “Houdini”. He is the second most-nominated artist in the history of the awards with 67 nods, trailing only Madonna, who has 71.
The pop sensation, Taylor Swift also broke the record for most wins for any solo artist in VMAs history with 30 “Moonman Awards” as she won in seven categories out of the 12 nominations this year. Other notable winners of this year were Post Malone, Katy Perry, Sabrina Carpenter, Ariana Grande, Megan Thee Stallion and others.
