4 labourers suffocate to death while cleaning water tank in Mumbai

According to police, on Sunday, at least four workers suffocated to death while attempting to clean an underground water tank at a construction site in Nagpada, Mumbai.

The event occurred at approximately 11:30 am on Sunday when five contract workers entered a tank at the Bismillah Space construction site to clean it and fell unconscious.

After the event, those at the location notified the fire service. Following the rescue of the workers who were trapped, officials quickly transported them to the nearby government-run JJ Hospital, where four were pronounced dead upon their arrival. According to police, another worker who was trapped alongside the others remains in stable condition.

Officials from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation are at the location, accompanied by the police. An official stated that the police have initiated an investigation into the incident.
