An underground bunker constructed beneath Iran’s supreme leader’s leadership compound was the focus of a significant attack by Israeli fighter jets early on Friday in the center of Tehran. According to the Israeli Air Force, over fifty aircraft participated in the operation, which was coordinated with Mossad and directed by accurate intelligence from Israel’s Military Intelligence. The subterranean bunker built for Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was the target.
The bunker, according to the Israeli military, is “a secure emergency asset” meant to help Khamenei oversee combat during a confrontation. Since Khamenei had previously been destroyed in previous attacks during Operation “Roaring Lion,” he never utilized it. Other high-ranking Iranian officials continued to frequent the compound after his passing.
The Israeli Air Force claims that the dictatorship spent years building the subterranean location with the intention of establishing a base to further its military objectives and to propagate what Israel described as its violent and extreme ideology aimed against Israel and the West.
“The underground bunker sprawled across entire streets in the heart of Tehran and included multiple entry points and rooms for gatherings of the senior officials of the Iranian terror regime,” the Israeli Air Force said in a statement.
Israel’s Military Intelligence collected a great deal of information and conducted significant investigation before launching the operation. The Iranian regime’s primary and most significant headquarters were located within the leadership compound. The destruction of the bunker, according to the Israeli military, has severely weakened the regime’s capacity for command and control.
The Israeli military declared the beginning of a wide-ranging assault on Friday morning. Intense explosions were reported by witnesses in Tehran and around missile bases close to Kermanshah. Israel claimed to have destroyed the majority of Iran’s missile launchers and air defense equipment. Iran retaliated by launching drones and missiles against Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Qatar—all of which were hosting US military. Those strikes did not result in any immediate casualties.
Many people fled Lebanon as Israel launched numerous airstrikes in Beirut’s southern suburbs and other locations. Israel and the United States have carried out widespread attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities, military installations, and leadership targets. Oil supply, international aviation transport, and Arab states have all been impacted by Iranian counterattacks. At least 1,230 people have died in Iran, over 120 in Lebanon, about a dozen in Israel, and six US soldiers have been killed, according to officials.
The IRIS Shahid Bagheri, an Iranian drone carrier, was reportedly struck by the US military and caught fire. The repurposed container ship has a 22,000 nautical mile drone range without refueling and a 180-meter drone runway.
