5003 Individuals Utilize The Metro From Joka To Taratala On Its First Day
On January 2, commercial services began operating on the Joka-Taratala section of the Joka-Esplanade Metro (purple line). At 10 am, the first passenger-carrying rake departed Joka in the direction of Taratala. In the first Metro from Joka, 306 people were traveling. Despite the positive feedback from many customers, some feel that the service is not very useful until it is connected to the Majerhat Railway Station.
The first 100 riders of the maiden voyage received roses, and many of the passengers were thrilled to be traveling on the Joka-Taratala Metro route for the first time (Purple line).
In front of other Metro authorities, Kaushik Mitra, deputy chief operations manager/commercial, presented the first purple line Metro token to Prabhat Kumar Chatterjee, the first commuter. In addition, Mitra gave him a gift to commemorate the event.
Six up and six down, 12 daily services will be provided on this route. These trains will operate at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 12 p.m., 3 p.m., 4 p.m., and 5 p.m. from Joka and 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 3:30 p.m., 4:30 p.m
Six stations, including Joka, Thakurpukur, Sakherbazar, Behala Chowrasta, Behala Bazar, and Taratala, are located along the 6.5 km first section of the route. The lowest and maximum fares for this route are 5 and 20 rupees, respectively.
The following train, however, won’t depart until a train on a line arrives at its destination for the time being.
Recently, the metro service between Joka and Taratala was launched following more than 12 years of building. In the presence of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, and other guests, Prime Minister Narendra Modi essentially opened it.
The initial corridor design called for a 16-kilometer connection between Joka and BBD Bag. The Esplanade Metro hub will now be where it comes to an end. The 14 km Joka-Esplanade corridor’s Taratala-Majerhat stretch would eventually link Kolkata’s south suburban suburbs to the city’s Esplanade.
