Congress Wins Himachal Assembly Election 2022

State Congress president Pratibha Singh said the new MLAs will consider who the next chief minister should be and present their ideas to the party’s top command after the Congress won 40 of the 68 seats in the Assembly, seizing control of Himachal Pradesh.

In the meantime, Prime Minister Narendra Modi noted that the vote gap between the BJP and the winning party was less than 1%.

In the previous 37 years, Himachal Pradesh has had a history of never having the same government in office twice. The rational Himachali voter has always believed that it is best to prevent any party from becoming too at ease in power.

Locally, Congress officials put a lot of effort into rekindling existing bonds with voters, greatly reducing the impact of the BJP’s star-studded, aggressive campaign. The party said that while the BJP had only CM Thakur, it had a phalanx of local stars such as Sukhwinder Sukhu in Hamirpur, Mukesh Agnihotri in Una, and Himachal Congress president Pratibha Singh in Shimla. Some even think the diversity of CM candidates helped.
