The Sarkar family resides in a three-story house in Nabapally, Thakurpukur, a short drive from Diamond Harbour Road. While they occupy the second floor, the floors below have been rented out, creating a vibrant and diverse community within the building.
The local community is offering its support to the family in their time of grief, with a group of policemen stationed at the road leading to their home. Among those deeply affected by the loss is Bikash Roy, the owner of Loknath Bhandar. The store, offering cakes, biscuits, dry food, and school stationery, was a familiar stop for young schoolgoers like Souraneel. Roy recalls the young boy with fondness, remembering how he would wave at him each day on his way to school.
