Kolkata , July 14 : The mood of the holiday is hidden in the word North Bengal. Many pictures come to mind. Darjeeling Mele to spend a few days of vacation. Seven mornings from Darjeeling to see Kanchenjunga and sometimes Sikkim along the Sevak road. Crooked roads , gurgling fountains , chirping birds , misty greenery and rivers flowing through the mountains. Thousands of South Bengali people go to the mountains to enjoy this cold in summer. Summer vacation means destination hills for Bengalis. And this year , Bengal has been burning for two months , no sign of rain. The temperature in Kalaikunda , Panagad , Bankura has touched around 50 degrees. Calcutta’s mercury has risen. Even if you say Bengali in the summer, it will not be wrong! Then what happened happened. A deep depression has formed in the Bay of Bengal. Cyclone Remal has hit on May 26 , 2024. After that, although the storm stopped in South Bengal , it did not stop in North Bengal. Somewhere the river is eroding , somewhere the road is being washed away by the Harpa river and somewhere the mountain is collapsing. National highway number 10 is closed day after day. A part of the road was washed away in Teesta. Teesta is getting wider day by day. One house after another collapsed in Teestabazar area. People have lost their roofs , lost their jobs and are sitting on the streets. Couldn’t precautions have been taken after the Teesta disaster last year ? This year also saw the same picture. On the other hand, due to the push for construction and development in Darjeeling, the ground has started to settle. Cracks like Joshimath can be seen here and there in the house. In Malda, the Ganga is consuming miles and miles of land. There is no place for people to hang their heads. Cultivation land is under the river. 

Many people who have lost their jobs are migrant workers today. There is only danger and fear towards North Bengal. Why is this state of the hills or plains of North Bengal ? Why is the rain increasing year by year ? Why are the landslides increasing ? North Bengal means , what is the hill and we will not have a place to visit ? What will happen to thousands of residents of North Bengal ? They will see vermilion clouds every year when the monsoon comes ? Why are North Bengal people seeing flood pictures every year ? What did we do in North Bengal ? In search of that answer, TV9 Bangla went to the affected areas of North Bengal and took pictures of people’s suffering .
