Several offices located in Mumbai’s bustling Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) have instructed their employees to work from home until July 15. This decision comes in response to anticipated traffic diversions and stringent security measures implemented for the grand wedding celebrations of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant from July 12 to July 14.
The wedding festivities, scheduled to commence on July 12 at the Jio World Convention Centre, will kick off with the main wedding ceremony, followed by a Shubh Ashirwad on July 13 and the Mangal Utsav on July 14. The Ambani family has spared no expense in organizing this extravagant affair, booking multiple hotels in the vicinity, including prominent establishments like ITC, The Lalit, and Taj, to accommodate their esteemed guests and team members.
The surge in hotel bookings has significantly impacted occupancy rates and prices across Mumbai, particularly in BKC. Luxury hotels in the area are reportedly offering rooms for as much as Rs 1 lakh per night, with popular hotels like Trident and Oberoi fully booked from July 10 to July 14, as confirmed by their respective websites.
The guest list for the Anant Ambani-Radhika Merchant wedding reads like a who’s who from various spheres of life. Notable attendees include Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Andhra Pradesh Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan, international celebrities Kim Kardashian and Khloe Kardashian, former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Lockheed Martin CEO James Taiclet, and Pret a Manger CEO Pano Christou, among others.
Adding to the allure of the celebrations, renowned folk singer Mame Khan has been invited to perform at the wedding on July 12. Khan expressed his excitement and confirmed his participation through an Instagram post, stating his plans to enthrall guests with Rajasthani folk songs as well as Bollywood melodies. Joining him on stage will be popular rapper Honey Singh, promising a vibrant musical experience for all attendees.
Pre-wedding festivities have already set a festive tone, with a special puja held on Wednesday to invoke blessings for the couple. Earlier celebrations included a joyous haldi ceremony at the Ambani residence, Antilia, and a star-studded sangeet ceremony on July 5, attended by prominent celebrities. International pop sensation Justin Bieber added to the glamour by delivering a memorable performance at the sangeet, further elevating the event’s profile on the global stage.
As Mumbai prepares to host one of its most lavish weddings in recent memory, the city’s business district braces for logistical challenges due to traffic diversions and heightened security measures. The Ambani-Merchant union promises to be a spectacular affair, blending tradition with opulence, and drawing attention from around the world as the celebrations unfold over the next few days.
