PM Modi Calls for Publicizing Punishments for Crimes Against Women to Instill Fear of Consequences

On the 78th Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a powerful address from the ramparts of the Red Fort, emphasizing the urgent need to publicize punishments for crimes against women. Modi highlighted that making these consequences widely known is essential to creating a deterrent effect and instilling a fear of retribution among potential offenders.

He remarked on the increasing presence and strength of women in the Indian Air Force, Army, Navy, and space industry, illustrating how women are breaking barriers and contributing to the nation’s growth.
However, the Prime Minister also expressed deep concern over the continued prevalence of violence against women. He conveyed his pain and anger, reflecting the sentiments of many citizens who are outraged by incidents of rape and other atrocities. “As a society, we must take these incidents seriously,” Modi stated, emphasizing the need for swift investigations and stringent punishments for those who commit such heinous acts. He stressed that ensuring justice for victims is crucial to building confidence within society.
Modi further urged that the fear of consequences must be ingrained in the minds of those who contemplate committing crimes against women.
