Mahadevi Birla Shishu Vihar Hosts Inspiring Sports Day Event with Veteran Cricketer Arun Lal

Kolkata, November 16, 2024: Mahadevi Birla Shishu Vihar celebrated its Annual Sports Day with great enthusiasm and vigour, graced by the presence of veteran Indian cricketer, coach, and philanthropist Arun Lal as the Chief Guest. The event was a grand celebration of athletic talent, team spirit, and the school’s commitment to fostering sports as an essential part of its curriculum.

The event began with a ceremonial march-past, showcasing the discipline and enthusiasm of the students. A series of track and field events followed, where students demonstrated their athletic prowess. The atmosphere was electric, with parents and teachers cheering the participants.

Principal Sonali Sarkar, in her opening address, emphasized the importance of sports in holistic education. “We at Mahadevi Birla Shishu Vihar believe sports is an integral part of the school curriculum. Many of our students have taken part in sports at the district, state, as well as national levels. We are honoured to have legendary cricketer Mr. Arun Lal here today to interact with our students and motivate them. Sports is a medium of discipline that can also help them in overall development in life,” she remarked.

Addressing the young and enthusiastic students, Mr Arun Lal shared invaluable advice drawn from his years of experience in sports. “I am happy to be here with the students and witness their enthusiasm about sports. I would like to mention that it is important to believe in your ability and strive for it. The young minds must understand that they are the best judge of their potential and can strive for their goals and ambitions,” said Mr. Lal, inspiring thunderous applause from the audience.

The day concluded with an award ceremony, where outstanding performers in various sports categories were felicitated by Mr. Lal. His encouraging words and personal anecdotes added a memorable touch to the event, leaving the students motivated to excel both on and off the field.
