Noel Tata, the half-brother of Ratan Tata, has taken on the role of Chairman of Tata Trusts, the charitable organization that possesses a 66% interest in Tata Sons, the parent company of the Tata Group. Although an Irish citizen, Noel’s strong ties to the Tata legacy and his vast experience in retail and strategic leadership establish him as a significant personality within one of India’s leading business families.

Noel Tata, born in Mumbai in 1957, is the child of Naval Tata and his second spouse, Simone Tata, who is from Switzerland. His half-brother, Ratan Tata, was born to Naval Tata and his initial spouse, Sooni Commissariat. In a move indicating a generational transition, Maya and Leah Tata were recently appointed to the board of trustees of the Sir Ratan Tata Industrial Institute.
