Veteran Bollywood actor Dharmendra, 89, was admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital earlier this week for a series of routine medical examinations, sources close to the family confirmed. The legendary star’s well-wishers were briefly alarmed after news of his hospital stay spread online, but family insiders assured that the actor is doing well and that there is “nothing to worry about.”

According to those familiar with the matter, Dharmendra’s hospitalisation was a precautionary decision to avoid the physical strain of daily travel while undergoing multiple health assessments. “He undergoes regular medical check-ups every few months. Since the tests were spread over two to three days, he chose to stay at the hospital instead of commuting back and forth each day,” said a source close to the Deol family.

The actor’s sons, Sunny and Bobby Deol, who are both engaged in ongoing film projects, have been visiting their father frequently and keeping a close watch on his condition. Family members reportedly plan to bring Dharmendra home once all tests are completed.

“Dharmendra ji is absolutely fine,” a family representative reiterated. “He often goes for routine health check-ups. There is no emergency situation. The reports are good, and he is in great spirits.”

The actor, who will turn 90 in December, remains active both personally and professionally. Recently, he appeared in Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya (2024) and has a role in the upcoming war drama Ikkis, directed by Sriram Raghavan and starring Agastya Nanda.

A beloved figure in Indian cinema, Dharmendra has often shared glimpses of his fitness regime on social media, including yoga, physiotherapy, and light workouts. Earlier this year, he posted a video encouraging fans to stay fit regardless of age, remarking that “discipline and positivity keep the spirit young.”

Known as the “He-Man” of Bollywood, Dharmendra’s enduring charm and robust health have made him one of Hindi cinema’s most admired veterans. His latest hospital visit, sources confirm, is merely a part of his regular health maintenance schedule — reassuring fans that the evergreen star remains healthy, active, and full of vitality.
