Over the years, Lagaan, starring Aamir Khan, has gained cult status and is frequently regarded as one of the best Indian films. Ashutosh Gowariker directed it, and it received a nomination for Best Foreign Language Film at the Academy Awards.

What would happen if Lagaan were created today? Who would portray Bhuvan in the main role? Aamir Khan knew the solution. The actor was asked who he would imagine playing Bhuvan in a modern remake of the movie during his most recent appearance as a guest on Komal Nahta’s podcast, Game Changers: The Producer Series.

Aamir replied, “Vicky Kaushal , I think he has that quality of Bhuvan – dignity, strength, inner strength, steadiness, and integrity. He reflects all of that very naturally. He is a great actor.”

Ashutosh Gowariker is the director of the epic period musical sports drama Lagaan: Once Upon a Time in India (2001). Suhasini Mulay, Raghubir Yadav, Rajendra Gupta, Raj Zutshi, Rajesh Vivek, Akhilendra Mishra, Daya Shankar Pandey, and Yashpal Sharma are also featured in the movie. British actors Paul Blackthorne and Rachel Shelley were also featured. It won multiple accolades and was widely praised when it was first released.

In the meantime, Vicky debuted as an actor in Masaan, directed by Neeraj Ghaywan. With roles in movies like Sam Bahadur, Sardar Udham, and Uri: The Surgical Strike, to mention a few, he rose to prominence in Bollywood throughout the ensuing years. His filmography spans a number of genres, including romance, horror, historical biopics, and action.
