LinkedIn Adds Notice Period and Salary Expectation Features for Job Seekers

LinkedIn has introduced new updates to its “Open to Work” feature, allowing users to share their notice period and expected salary directly on their profiles. The professional networking platform announced that these details will remain visible only to recruiters, helping streamline the hiring process.
Previously, job seekers could simply indicate they were open to opportunities through a green “Open to Work” badge. With this new feature, candidates can now specify how soon they can join a new role and what compensation they expect, enabling recruiters to assess compatibility before reaching out.
LinkedIn clarified that these additions are optional and currently available only to Premium members. Users can choose whether to display these details and still control who sees their “Open to Work” status—either publicly or restricted to recruiters. Importantly, the notice period and salary information will not appear on public profiles, ensuring privacy from colleagues or current employers.
The company explained that this update aims to make recruitment more efficient by minimizing mismatches between candidates and hiring managers. Recruiters can quickly identify applicants who are both available and within their budget, saving time on early-stage discussions. However, LinkedIn has also cautioned that while efforts are made to conceal this information from a user’s current employer, complete privacy cannot be guaranteed.
In addition to these updates, LinkedIn encouraged users to enhance their profiles with detailed skills and experiences. The platform noted that candidates listing at least five skills are over five times more likely to receive messages from recruiters.
Through this feature, LinkedIn hopes to make the job-matching process faster and more transparent, empowering both recruiters and job seekers with relevant information from the start.
