Dhanush and Kriti Sanon’s ‘Tere Ishk Mein’ Opens Strong, Nets ₹16.50 Crore on Day One

The romantic drama Tere Ishk Mein, starring Dhanush and Kriti Sanon, has made a compelling entrance at the box office, reporting an impressive opening day collection. The film, which is billed as the spiritual successor to the 2013 hit Raanjhanaa, earned an estimated ₹16.50 crore net in India on its debut Friday, November 28, according to industry trackers.

This strong performance, fueled by generally positive reviews from critics and audiences, marks a promising start for the intense love story set against the backdrop of Banaras.

The film recorded an overall occupancy of 25.77% across the country on its first day, with audience turnout showing a steady increase throughout the day. Morning shows began with 15.29% occupancy, which rose to 21.67% in the afternoon and peaked at 41.56% for the crucial night shows, demonstrating a strong word-of-mouth momentum.

Geographically, the film saw excellent reception in major metropolitan areas and Tier-1 cities, significantly contributing to the high opening figure. Chennai led the occupancy charts with a substantial 51% overall turnout. Other cities showing strong and consistent audience response included Bengaluru (32.75%) and Hyderabad (31.25%).

Tere Ishk Mein follows the complex and turbulent relationship between Shankar (Dhanush) and Mukti (Kriti Sanon). The narrative dives into dark themes of love, loss, heartbreak, and vengeance, exploring the emotional complexity that drives Shankar’s descent into rage and obsession after Mukti chooses to marry another man. The film’s robust opening suggests that the thematic continuation of the intense love saga has successfully resonated with the audience.
