By Biswadeep Gupta

Ladli Foundation, a Delhi-based UN accredited NGO, has come up with an innovative initiative to involve the privileged section of the society to take responsibility of at least one underprivileged girl who lost her bread-earner during the COVID-19 pandemic, and provide her health and education facilities to make her self-reliant and empowered.

Apart from this, a unique musical mass wedding event, benefiting 51 underprivileged women, will be organised, wherein awareness against child marriages will be spread among the masses.

The mega event will be graced by internationally renowned spiritual leader and motivator Swami Avdheshanand Giri, who will encourage the masses and millions of his disciples to practice this concept to achieve Women empowerment by eliminating Gender-Based Violence and Child Marriages.

Devendra Kumar, the founder of Ladli Foundation, said that the Covid pandemic has badly impacted the lives of slum-dwelling people. It has made them more vulnerable, especially those young girls who lost their bread earners during the pandemic, which left these girls amid various social evils like child marriage, trafficking, sexual abuse, and many other heinous crimes. It is time now that we, as socially responsible persons, shall take responsibility for these vulnerable girls by adopting them socially and providing social security to them.

The upcoming event will be held on 9th July 2022 at Chattarpur temple from 5.00 p.m. onwards. At this musical event, the Social Adoption of 101 girls will be done through the Kanya Pujan ceremony and mega mass wedding of 45 Hindu and 6 Muslim underprivileged women will also be performed according to their religious rituals to spread the message of communal harmony.

During a press conference held at Foreign Correspondents’ Club of South Asia (FCC) Delhi on Wednesday, senior foreign correspondent Ratnajyoti Dutta enquired about how the Foundation is integrating the National Education policy to which the Founder of the Foundation Devender informed that when any child does not get admission in a school they do use the Right to Education policy to get the girls admitted in a school. They also practice the pathshala concept where the kids are first encouraged to get interested into studies through play method.

Muneesh Gupta, President of FCC, came forward and informed that he too will adopt one girls responsibility for her education being inspired by the work of the Foundation.
