The All India Management Association (AIMA) and the Calcutta Management Association (CMA) held a high-level leadership interaction at the Tata Centre, Kolkata, to deliberate on further strengthening of relationship and redefining the future relevance of management education and practice.
The meeting was chaired by Mr T. V. Narendran, President, AIMA, and Ms Rekha Sethi, Director General, AIMA, and was attended by the President, Office bearers, former Presidents and Executive Committee members of CMA. Mr Indranil Banerjee, President, CMA, made a brief presentation outlining CMA’s legacy, recent initiatives, upcoming plans and emerging role of the Association in the eastern region.
AIMA leadership advised CMA to focus on high-impact areas such as Skill Development, Entrepreneurship, Capability Building and Mentorship, rather than conflicting Policy Advocacy issues. Emphasis was placed on aligning with AIMA’s flagship initiatives, including Entrepreneurship Development and Job creation Programmes, and exploring collaboration with bodies such as NSDC.
The discussion also covered the impact of global and Indian economic trends, technological disruption, artificial intelligence, sustainability and climate change on management practices. The need to redesign management education, strengthen academia–industry linkages, support MSMEs, and nurture young leaders through structured mentorship programmes was strongly highlighted.
Both AIMA and CMA reaffirmed their commitment to work closely towards building a future-ready, inclusive and globally competitive management ecosystem.
