West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari Makes Surprise Visit to Watganj Police Station

Kolkata : In an unannounced visit to Watganj Police Station, West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari conducted a surprise inspection to assess the functioning of the police station and its facilities. The Chief Minister arrived without prior notice to top police officials and spent approximately 15 minutes at the station.

Upon arrival, CM Adhikari first proceeded to the women’s help desk. There, he engaged with the police officer in charge to understand the operations and effectiveness of the help desk. He also examined the register maintained at the desk to review records firsthand.

The Chief Minister further inquired about the working of the separate Watganj Women’s Police Station housed within the same premises. Concerned about safety measures, he checked the fire extinguishing system installed at the police station. He personally inspected the equipment on site to ensure that it was in working order and confirmed that expiration dates were regularly monitored.

In addition to these checks, CM Adhikari collected information regarding the overall functioning of the police personnel. He asked about the registration process of FIRs, duties carried out by the duty officer, the number of police staff deployed at the station, and how many were currently on patrol rounds.

This surprise visit underscores the Chief Minister’s commitment to monitoring law enforcement agencies closely and enhancing public safety services. The police station staff welcomed the visit and assured full cooperation in maintaining effective policing in the area.
