Dilip Ghosh Raises Concern Over Infiltration and Citizenship in Bengal

Corresspondent - Ajay Chowdhury/ 25th August 2026

Kolkata | BJP leader Dilip Ghosh has raised concerns over what he described as the large-scale infiltration from Bangladesh and other regions into West Bengal, alleging that many such individuals have obtained documents and registered as voters.

Ghosh said that when people allegedly obtain documents such as Aadhaar cards and enter electoral rolls, it can affect the rights of local residents and create challenges related to law and order and governance.

He welcomed the greater role of state authorities in matters concerning citizenship and related administrative issues, expressing confidence that the state government can address these concerns more effectively.

The allegations are part of an ongoing political debate in West Bengal over illegal immigration, citizenship verification and electoral rolls.
