Vidyasagar Statue Found Abandoned in Baruipur on Teachers’ Day, Sparks Outrage

Baruipur: An Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar bust was found lying abandoned in bushes near Vidyasagar Children’s Park in Baruipur on Teachers’ Day, September 5, triggering anger among local residents. The bust had reportedly been installed at the park in 2020, but was later removed from its original location and left in the adjoining bushes. Residents questioned how the statue could remain neglected despite the site being close to the Baruipur Sub-Divisional Officer’s office and municipal premises.Locals demanded that the bust be immediately cleaned and restored to a place of honour. They also sought an investigation into how and why it was removed.
