M.A. Rehman Children’s Park Overgrown With Wild Vegetation In Kharagpur A Park Meant For Children, Now Buried Under Bushes.

Kharagpur : A children’s park built in memory of one of Debalpur Ward no 5, Near water tank at Kharagpur has been left to decay for years, with thick, uncontrolled plant growth now covering almost the entire ground and leaving hardly any space for visitors to walk or use the park.
The M.A. Rehman Children’s Park was found in a poor and neglected condition during a recent visit by local residents. Overgrown bushes and wild vegetation have swallowed the pathways and open areas, while the main gate of the park was also found heavily rusted and badly in need of repair.
Built in Memory of a Former Chairman
The park was built in memory of Late M.A. Rehman, who served as Chairman of [Kharagpur Municipality], for nearly 20 years. His long tenure in the civic body made him a familiar figure in the town, and the park was meant to stand as a lasting tribute to his service to the people of Kharagpur.
Residents Appeal to Chairperson Kalyani Ghosh
In light of the park’s present state, an appeal has been made to [Kalyani Ghosh], the present Chairperson of Kharagpur Municipality, to take immediate notice of the situation.
Residents have urged the civic body to arrange for proper cleaning of the park, removal of the overgrown plants and bushes, repair of the rusted main gate, and the necessary maintenance work to restore the park to a usable condition.
Local residents said the park, meant for children and families, can no longer serve its purpose in its current state, and asked that the space be brought back into public use without further delay.
