France’s EDF Pushes Nuclear Reactor Technology in India

France’s state-owned energy major Électricité de France (EDF) is stepping up efforts to promote its nuclear reactor technology in India while developing a local supply chain for future projects. The company has briefed Indian officials on plans to build an ecosystem that would enable large-scale localisation of equipment and services. EDF has been pursuing the proposed six-reactor EPR project at Jaitapur, Maharashtra, in partnership with India’s NPCIL. The company has also established training initiatives for Indian suppliers on nuclear quality standards and technical requirements, supporting the broader Make in India objective.
