Abhishek Sharma Reclaims No. 1 Spot in ICC T20I Rankings, Overtakes Ishan Kishan

India opener Abhishek Sharma has reclaimed the top position in the ICC Men’s T20 International batting rankings, overtaking teammate Ishan Kishan following a series of impressive performances. The left-handed batter’s return to the summit comes after his explosive century against New Zealand in the third T20I, further strengthening his position among the world’s leading players in the shortest format.

Abhishek produced a remarkable innings of 113 runs off 38 deliveries in the third match in Wellington on October 27. He reached his century in only 35 balls, showcasing his aggressive batting approach and ability to dominate the opposition’s bowling attack. His innings played a crucial role in India’s six-wicket victory and helped the visitors establish an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match T20I series.

The latest rankings update reflects Abhishek’s outstanding form and his growing influence at the top of India’s batting order. He now leads the T20I batting rankings with 897 rating points, moving ahead of Pakistan’s Sahibzada Farhan, who occupies second place with 883 points. Kishan has slipped to third with 866 points.

Abhishek’s return to the No. 1 T20I batter position marks another milestone in his rapidly developing international career. He first reached the top of the ICC T20I rankings in July 2025 after a series of consistent performances for India. His latest achievement underlines his ability to maintain a high level of performance against quality international opposition.

Kishan had claimed the leading position in July 2026 following a strong run of performances. However, Abhishek’s recent displays, particularly his extraordinary century against New Zealand, have enabled him to regain the ranking.
