Deepti Sharma Ends Nine-Year Wait for ODI Century as India Beat Zimbabwe

India all-rounder Deepti Sharma ended a nine-year wait for her second one-day international century with an unbeaten 106 against Zimbabwe in the second ODI in Vadodara on October 25, 2026. Her outstanding performance with both bat and ball helped India secure a comprehensive 121-run victory and take an unassailable lead in the three-match series.

Deepti reached the milestone in an innings that showcased her composure and ability to accelerate when required. She struck 106 not out off 86 deliveries, marking her return to three figures in the format after her maiden ODI century against Ireland in May 2017, when she scored a remarkable 188.

The right-handed batter’s contribution proved crucial as India posted a formidable total of 328 for six. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur also played a major role, scoring 126 to provide the innings with momentum. The partnership between the two batters helped India recover from challenging phases and build a total that placed Zimbabwe under considerable pressure.

Speaking about her achievement, Deepti expressed satisfaction at finally converting her efforts into another ODI hundred after such a long interval. The all-rounder has remained an important member of India’s squad, contributing regularly with her batting and off-spin bowling. Her latest performance further underlined her value to the team in the 50-over format.

India carried their momentum into the second innings, with the bowlers restricting Zimbabwe to 207. Deepti continued her impressive outing by claiming three wickets, ensuring that her century was complemented by a significant contribution with the ball. The 121-run win gave India the series with one match remaining, reflecting the hosts’ superiority in both departments. The team’s strong batting display, followed by an effective bowling effort, left Zimbabwe unable to mount a serious challenge.

For Deepti, the century represented a personal milestone as well as an important contribution to India’s campaign. Her ability to deliver under pressure will provide encouragement to the team as it continues its international commitments, while her all-round performance reinforced her reputation as one of India’s key players.
