India Calls The Destruction At The Bhagvad Gita Park In Canada A “Hate Crime”
The Shri Bhagvad Gita park in Brampton was allegedly vandalized by a bunch of miscreants, according to the High Commission of India in Ottawa, Canada, on October 2. Days after the park’s renaming in honor of the Hindu holy book Bhagvad Gita, the incident took place.
The miscreants, according to Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown, smashed the park’s signboard. Brown said there would be no tolerance for such behavior and demanded an investigation into the incident.
According to a statement, the 3.75-acre park will feature sculptures of Hindu deities as well as Lord Krishna and Arjun riding a chariot. The unveiling happened on September 28.
The City of Brampton had stated during the inauguration that Brampton is a Mosaic and that this name honors the Hindu community and all that they bring to the city. The park is likely the only one outside of India to bear the Bhagavad Gita’s name, according to a statement from the Haryana government.
