“Avoid Hiring Someone With Indian Ancestry” Infosys Had Given HR Executives Orders

Jill Prejean, a former vice president (VP) of talent acquisition at Infosys, an IT business with its headquarters in Bengaluru, has alleged that she was told not to hire women who were mothers, applicants who were 50 years old or older, or persons of Indian descent.

In September 2021, Prejean launched a lawsuit against the IT firm Infosys. The business’ request to have the former executive’s lawsuit over discriminatory hiring dismissed by the company was denied by a United States District Court for the Southern District of New York.

The defendants have been given until September 30, 2018, to provide an answer, per the judge’s request.

Mark Livingston, a former senior vice president, and director of consulting, as well as former business partners Dan Albright and Jerry Kurtz, were the targets of Prejean’s lawsuit. She had filed a lawsuit against Infosys alleging hostile working conditions and retaliatory termination.

According to Prejean, she was shocked to discover a pervasive culture of illegal discriminatory animus among the partner-level executives based on age, gender, and caregiver status.

This is not the first time that Infosys has been accused of prejudice in the hiring process. Four female employees had previously filed a discrimination complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in 2021, stating that the company preferred male and Indian staff.

Prejean, who is 59 years old, was hired by Infosys in 2018.

The complaint also claims that Prejean attempted to alter the culture of the company within the first two months of her employment, but was rebuffed by Infosys partners Jerry Kurtz and Dan Albright, who grew hostile in response to her concerns and attempted to usurp her authority in order to avoid following the law, according to multiple reports.

The financial results and proposal for interim dividend, if any, would be presented to the Board of Directors on October 13, 2022, for their approval, Infosys stated in its regulatory filing from last month.
