UK High Commissioner Alex Ellis Provides A HUGE Update On The Handling Of Indian Visa Applications
On October 18, Alex Ellis, the British High Commissioner to India, provided a significant update on the progress being made in returning to the regular 15-day processing time for visa requests from India to the UK.
According to Ellis’ tweet, “We are on track to resume processing India to Great Britain #visa applications within our norm of 15 days.” According to him, the number of students from India has increased by 89 percent since 2021, and the processing timeframes for skilled worker visas have been sped up with an emphasis on visitors’ visas.
Notably, the consequences of Covid-19 and the Russian invasion of Ukraine, along with an unusual rise in demand for travel from India to the UK, meant that the processing time for UK visas significantly exceeded the industry standard of 15 working days.
Additionally, he advised candidates to apply for visas early and mentioned that the UK had good availability in visa application centers.
