A Rajasthan MLA Takes Offense When Gehlot Supporters Confront Kharge, Illustrating How Things Have Changed

A Congress MLA implied that the supporters of Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot were the first to travel to Delhi to welcome the newly elected Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge. Divya Maderna, a Congress MLA from Osian, shared images of Shanti Dhariwal, Mahesh Joshi, and Dharmendra Rathore with the newly-elected party president commenting on how times have changed. The three Gehlot supporters were given a show-cause notice by the Congress disciplinary committee after a large group of MLAs rebelled.

Maderna has said that she is loyal to Congress and the party’s high command and does not belong to either the Gehlot or Pilot camp.

Last month, Gehlot was set to run for Congress president, therefore Kharge and Ajay Maken were dispatched as observers to the Congress legislative party conference, which was called to pass a resolution authorizing the Congress head to name Gehlot’s replacement. However, 82 MLAs chose to skip the gathering, and a separate gathering took place at Dhariwal’s house.

After Kharge and Maken submitted their written complaint to the party’s then-president Sonia Gandhi accusing three state leaders of severe indiscipline, the party’s disciplinary committee issued the notices.
