Candidates Who Passed The 2014 TET Are Still Protesting In Dharmatala

After more than 90 hours of a hunger strike by 2014 TET-qualified applicants who were not given a job chance despite the Chief Minister’s announcement in November 2020 of 20,000 exclusive opportunities for these candidates, the Karunamoyee protest site in Kolkata was cleared on October 20, October 20. The victims of the recruitment fraud for which former West Bengal Board of Primary Education (WBBPE) Chairman Manik Bhattacharya is being held by the Enforcement Directorate are the candidates who passed the 2014 TET.
The protesters had set up shop next to the WBBPE office in Karunamoyee, calling for an immediate hiring ban. However, after the High Court ordered the imposition of Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), the police forcibly dispersed the area. The appeal to overturn the Calcutta High Court order enforcing Section 144 of the CrPC was filed by the demonstrators on October 21.
What actually occurred?
Many protesters were hurt as a result of the Bidhannagar police dragging and detaining protesters. The leaders of the group 2014 Qualified Trained Not Included Candidates Ekota Mancha, which organized the protests in Karunamoyee, Achinta Dhara, Achintya Samanta, and Arnab Ghosh, were held in custody till midday on October 22. On October 21, the job aspirants submitted a petition to the Calcutta High Court challenging the single bench decision enforcing Section 144 of the CrPC at the protest location. According to Achinta Dhara, “It is our democratic right to protest; denying us the right to claim the street to criticize is denying us the right to speak our opinion.” He also let EdexLive know that the appeal would be heard by a division bench on October 28.
Dharmatala protests continue
The 68th day of the Dharmatala protests at the pedestal of Matangini Hazra’s monument was on October 22. We protested in Dharmatala after being freed, Achinta Dhara claims. We held demonstrations till late at night while sporting black badges. However, the confusion, tiredness, and medical care have worn us down; many have really become ill.
