Only 2 Firs Were Filed In The Chandigarh Tricity Area For Cracker-Bursting Windows
Ram Karan, 51, was detained in Chandigarh near the Kheda Mandir in the Kishangarh village, and Mohit, 22, of the New Indira Colony in Manimajra, was detained in Shastri Nagar, Manimajra while setting off firecrackers on Diwali after the legal window of 8 to 10 pm.
They were arrested at the IT park police station under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code (disobedience to order promulgated by public servant) and Section 51-B of the Disaster Management Act 2005, but were later released on bail.
Fewer complaints this year
Only 51 calls regarding fire cracker exploding nuisance were received by the police control center this year, suggesting that UT residents were being more patient. The Chandigarh administration only permitted the sale of green crackers, and cracker-bursting was only permitted between the hours of 8 and 10 p.m. According to police statistics, 90 calls regarding the fire cracker explosion were made in 2021.
