Massive Landslide Hits Mega Power Project Site In Kishtwar, Leaving 4 Dead And 6 Injured

A large landslide that struck a region where workers were building a connection road close to a power project site in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district on October 26 left four people dead and six injured. When several workers hurried to help a driver who had become stuck, further landslides burst through, trapping a number of other personnel.

Immediately after launching a rescue effort, some persons were extricated from the rubble and brought to a hospital.

According to Kishtwar Deputy Commissioner (DC) Devansh Yadav, construction workers were trapped when a large boulder fell on top of a JCB equipment they were using to excavate a connection road near the Ratle power plant site.

J&K LG Manoj Sinha expressed sorrow over the fatalities shortly after the unfortunate event and gave the assurance that Army, SDRF, and police have started rescue efforts. He added that the district administration had been told to offer all required support.
